We conducted a feasibility study of multiple future operations options for the Seward Marine Industrial Complex (SMIC), specifically focused on the 250-ton travel lift and the boat storage yard. Due to environmental regulations, infrastructure changes will be required for the continued operation of the yard. The study evaluated whether it made the most sense for the City to continue running the yard, privatize the yard, or close it. This work took place in 2008–2009.
