In 2020, the Alaska Municipal League (AML) fielded a survey of ports and harbors in Alaska which was loosely based on the survey used for the 2010 Alaska Regional Ports Study. AML contracted with us to summarize the results of the 2020 survey and generate comparisons with the 2010 survey data. Phase 1 of the work provided a preliminary look at the 2020 survey results, summarizing the condition of infrastructure and capital expenditures for the respondents. Phase 2 used the 2020 survey data as a sample and extrapolated to estimate the planned and needed capital expenditures for all ports and harbors Alaska. The project deliverables included PowerPoint presentation slides for Phases 1 and 2, and a memo to describe the detailed analysis in Phase 2 which included a comparison of intermodal connections, facilities, capabilities, and the capital expenditures. This work took place in 2020.
