Welcome to Harbor Tycoon!
You are the harbormaster. Your job is to keep the harbor running smoothly by assigning vessels to slips and docks, managing maintenance, and growing the harbor's reputation.
Getting Started
Enter your name and your harbor's name, design your harbor, and you're ready to go!
The Harbor Layout
- Fish Dock (left): Fishing vessels offload their catch here, automatically docking if there's space.
- Charter Dock (right): Charter vessels offload and load passengers here, automatically docking if there's space.
- Slips (center floats): Moorage for recreational vessels, and other vessel types if docks are full.
Assigning Vessels
When a vessel arrives, it appears in the
Queue at the bottom of the screen. Click the vessel, then click a highlighted available slip, float group, or dock space to assign it. Fishing and charter vessels will automatically dock if there's space. Recreational vessels need you to assign them a slip. Fishing and charter vessels pay dockage when they arrive at their dock, plus they pay fish or head taxes. Recreational vessels prepay their moorage for the length of their stay. Once moored, you can view their scheduled departure time.
Each vessel has a patience timer, though, so be quick. If recreational users give up, they'll leave. Not only will you lose out of their moorage, but your popularity will drop, too. Fishing and charter vessels that have excessive waits will harm your reputation.
Vessel Types
- Fishing Vessels need dock space to offload fish.
- Charter Vessels need dock space for offloading/loading passengers.
- Recreational Vessels arrive and depart freely, but you need to assign them a slip.
Night Mode
Activity slows at night. Vessels in slips pay overnight moorage. Occasional emergencies may require immediate attention.
Scoring
- Money is earned from moorage/dockage, fish taxes, and passenger fees. Spend money on labor (weekly plus per-move, when needed), maintenance, and expansions.
- Popularity rises when recreational vessels and charter passengers are well served. It falls when they wait too long or are turned away.
- Reputation grows from serving your business customers and good maintenance, and it falls where there are docking delays and neglected facilities.
Maintenance
Each float section slowly accumulates wear (shown as a color meter). Click
Maintain to catch up. Neglected sections risk failure, which costs more to repair and hurts your reputation. Dilapidated harbors might also attract unruly vessels, which can cause headaches for you.
Raising Rates
Click
Raise Rates to increase moorage rates by a small amount. Moderate increases over time are fine, but excessive raises will hurt popularity and reduce demand.
Expansion
Click
Expand to add slips or dock face to increase your capacity.
