HarborModel.com is a professional archive/resume maintained by Mike Fisher, an MBA, consultant, and lifelong Alaskan.
For more than two decades, Mike has proven himself to be an expert on the economics of Alaska’s ports and harbors, though his extensive experience providing economic, financial, and planning services to ports and harbors across Alaska. You can view his ports and harbors experience on the Experience page, which showcases the feasibility studies, rate studies, planning, and economic impact assessments he’s done for the maritime community. Mike also contributed to development of the Harbor Economic Impact Model (HEIM), a tool used by communities statewide to quantify the value of their harbor infrastructure that is also hosted on this website.
Mike holds graduate degrees in business administration and project management, and the Project Management Professional (PMP) certification. He has taught graduate courses in Operations Research, Cost Estimating, and Project Cost Management, and published books on cost estimating and project risk management for Alaska’s oil and gas sector.
The presentations and resources on this site span Mike’s career and are offered freely as a professional resource for the port and harbor community.
Mike’s solo consulting practice, Hess Mountain Group LLC, builds on his professional foundation and takes it in a new direction. At Hess Mountain Group, he works with nonprofits, businesses, and leaders on risk and decision-making, strategic planning, and grant funding strategy, bringing the same rigor to those challenges that he brought to port and harbor economics, along with the perspective of someone who has spent years making real decisions in demanding Alaskan terrain.
